CHRISTMAS
BY HUISHAN ZHANG
Part of the enduring charm of Christmas is revisiting fond traditions. We have long enjoyed close ties with the fashion and art world, hosting countless fashion shows, galas and after-parties, as well as housing a permanent art collection within the hotel. For the third consecutive year, we have commissioned a creative artist to design The Londoner's Christmas tree, this time passing the torch to renowned fashion designer Huishan Zhang.

Christmas Tree 2023
After showing their most recent collection at The Londoner during September Fashion Week, HUISHAN ZHANG is thrilled to be returning to the hotel to celebrate the festive period with a HUISHAN ZHANG designed Christmas tree. The tree is adorned with large black and white roses first seen in ZHANG’s Resort 2024 collection, which drew inspiration from Eileen Chang’s 1944 novella ‘Red Rose, White Rose’ and the evocative imagery it portrays around themes of love, passion and femininity. The colour scheme for Christmas 2023 is black and white to celebrate both the pure and dark side of a woman. Like the collection, the tree celebrates the complexity of female identity; how a woman can be and feel many different things, often at the same time.

2022
Hailed by Vogue as a leader of London’s fashion community, renowned British fashion designer Daniel w. Fletcher applied his signature aesthetic to The Londoner’s iconic festive centrepiece back in 2022. Inspired by our collective commitment to sustainability, Daniel w. Fletcher’s ‘A White Christmas’ used fabric offcuts from his SS23 Collection shown at The Londoner during London Fashion Week, emphasising the beauty and value of reusing our resources.

2021
In partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, The Londoner commissioned RA Schools student Max Boyla to design and create the 2021 Christmas Installation at The Londoner. Reflecting on life in a post-pandemic world, Max Boyla’s ‘The Unreachable Star’ was an immersive experience that reminded us of the universal strive towards a brighter future, allowing us to contemplate our place among the stars.
