About the exhibition:
To mark its 200th anniversary, the National Gallery will host Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers, a major exhibition in autumn 2024. It will celebrate the centenary of the Gallery’s acquisition of Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Van Gogh’s Chair (1888). The exhibition, the Gallery’s first dedicated to Van Gogh, will feature over 50 works, including loans from renowned museums. Focusing on Van Gogh’s imaginative transformations, it will explore his creative process, his time in Arles and Saint-Rémy, and the symbolic meaning of his portraits. Curated by Cornelia Homburg, Christopher Riopelle, and Julien Domercq, the show will reassess Van Gogh’s work.
